A potential anti-discrimination flag.
I (neptun) really hate the thought of all our pride being in our sexual preferences and not in what we can accomplish. I get that Pride Month supposed to be a month for "all people" but I hate that it categorizes people by what their crotches do.
I also don't like how the LGBTQIA community likes to, in both it's name and flag, list off everything it accepts like a big whitelist. I'd much rather say that we accept all kinds of people on a fundamental level. The only thing we disapprove of are the crimes they may commit, not what those criminals fundamentally are as a person.
The flag is a symbol of modern day discrimination. It includes an "us" while excluding a "them". If I could just get an "anti-discrimination" flag, instead of one that lists sexual preferences in it's symbolism, that would be nice.
Note: You should watch the video on the flags page to learn why putting text on a flag is a bad idea, and maybe get some inspiration regarding what makes a good flag ~ Rachel
Note Note: I watched the video. Thanks for the suggestion! The video didn't really give any reason to not add text other than "If you're using text, your symbolism has failed", but honestly I prefer having the text because it allows a viewer to know the meaning of the flag on sight instead of having to learn the symbolism elsewhere.
Another complaint about using text is that the font might be too small to read from a distance or when the flag is displayed as a small image, but you can tell that it's the anti-discrimination flag from the general shape of it, regardless of the text's readability.
Finally, I know that the text won't be readable to non-English readers but this flag is currently on an English-reading webpage and if I were to hang it outside of my house it would be in an English-reading neighborhood. I don't mind if the text on the flag is in a different language. In fact, I don't want the text being specifically in English (or any other language) to be a part of the flag's standard. - neptun
