In 2024 Rachel got an Art Grant from Apogaea for $1400 for materials to build these glowing palm trees. They use ESP32 microcontrollers to run the LED light strip that runs through the trunk along with laser cut acrylic leaves. The entire project was custom designed in CAD and laser cut using equipment at the Fort Collins Creator Hub.

Two different variations were created:

• A smaller "baby tree" which was designed to be built from 2-4 feet tall
• A large "adult tree" designed to be 6-8 feet tall
