Seemingly like clockwork, every 8 years Rachel gets a strong desire to start growing bamboo. Except this time she finally has enough skills and experience to pull it off successfully.

Rachel's Second Bamboo Grow from 2016-2017
Rachel tried growing bamboo again 8 years later and was marginally more successful. Her bamboo plants reached over 6 feet tall and a few mm in diameter. They survived one winter in a makeshift modular greenhouse which was later abandoned due to damage from wind storms. The following winter they died in pots on the porch.

Rachel's First Bamboo Grow from 2008 - 2009
Welcome to Rachel's official blogospace! Once the wiki supports images, this page is gonna be covered in GREEN BAMBOO SHIT! Only it's not shit, it's amazing beauty, because bamboo doesn't poop!
My bamboo is currently growing at an inch per day! But you might be more interested in some history:
I ordered a 4 foot tall bamboo plant off ebay about a year and a half ago, I planted it outside because at the time I was living in the forest. Despite a frigid New York winter, the bamboo jumped right back to life in the spring. The old shoots had died, but the roots were in perfect health. Growing outdoors in New York doesn't provide for the best growing conditions for bamboo, especially without constant sunlight. Despite all that, it grew back to about 3 feet over the summer, completely neglected.
Once the weather started to take a turn for the winter, I decided it'd be best if I rescued my bamboo and brought it to my apartment. It took about a month for a new stalk to start growing, but its growth has been steady ever since.
Then it got eaten by Grim, the gay cat.
