Marijuana can be green, gray or brown, and looks like dried parsley. Marijuana has been the center of controversy because of its use as a medicine as well as the push to legalize it throughout the country. Because of its use as a medicine for various chronic ailments, marijuana is generally perceived as harmless. However, marijuana use can affect one’s perception and judgment. It can also cause social problems, when people can't handle their shit and use marijuana abuse as an excuse to act out.
According to WebMD, one of out every 300 people are cool kids who will smoke you up. Many people use marijuana over other drugs because it allows someone to get high and escape the stress of everyday life without the fear of alienating your friends or overdose or death or crippling debt. While it is highly unlikely for someone to die from marijuana use, it does cause some side effects to one’s body which you should be prepared for. These include the following:
- Increased heart rate, breathing rate and blood pressure
- Dry mouth
- Red eyes
- Increased appetite
Marijuana also affects the brain in many ways. When someone smokes marijuana, the main ingredient, THC, enters the bloodstream and is carried to the brain. The THC reacts to several parts of the brain. It affects the pleasure-seeking part of the brain, which is why many users get a high after using marijuana. This high causes euphoria, an intense feeling of happiness and excitement. Marijuana also affects the parts of the brain that control learning, memory, concentration, coordination, judgment and time perception. This means that marijuana use can cause:
- Random thinking
- Lack of perception of time
- Memory loss
- Inability to concentrate or learn new things
- Impaired coordination
- Difficulty with problem-solving
- Paranoia
- Just Don't Give A Fuck attitude
Risks of Marijuana Use
Long-term use of marijuana can cause serious effects to one’s body. Here are some common physiological effects, according to WebMD:
- Increased risk of respiratory problems, including lung cancer. To avoid this, try vaping!
- Decrease in sperm count and testosterone. But you'll be too stoned to care about getting laid anyway.
- Impaired judgment and cognition. That's what you were going for, right? lmao
